For the sixth consecutive year L’University of Bologna is al first place in Italy in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, the ranking that evaluates the actions and contribution of universities around the world towards achieving the sustainable development goals traced by the UN. The new edition of the ranking includes 2,031 universities, 406 more than last year: a strong increase that contributes to increasing the prestige of the ranking. Globally, the Alma Mater ranks 67th and is the only Italian university in the top 100.
For each participating university, the ranking takes into consideration the actions taken and the resources invested in responding to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations General Assembly.
Looking at the detail of the individual indicators, the University of Bologna is among the top 100 universities in the world for the actions implemented on five objectives. From 19th place globally for Business, innovation and infrastructure (SDG 9), which aims to promote inclusive and sustainable industrial development and support innovation. Then there is the 46th place For Quality education (SDG 4)the objective that measures the ability to offer quality, equitable and inclusive education and learning opportunities for all.
“The development of society and the construction of a better future must be at the center of the action of universities, and this is why among the many rankings that reward us at a national and international level, this one gives us particular satisfaction”, declares the Rector Giovanni Molari. “Seeing the University of Bologna as the only Italian university among the top one hundred in the world clearly shows the strong widespread commitment of our large community on issues that are fundamental for us such as inclusive education, environmental sustainability, the promotion of human rights, the reduction of inequalities”.
