Paolo Piacenza resigned from the position of extraordinary commissioner of the Western Ligurian Sea system authority which brings together the ports of Genoa and Savona. In his place, Admiral Massimo Seno arrives from Rome. This was communicated by the Deputy Minister of Transport Edoardo Rixi. “We take note of the resignation of Dr. Paolo Piacenza from the role of extraordinary commissioner of the western Ligurian AdsP Sea – writes Rixi in a note – On behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport I would like to express my gratitude to him for the work carried out and the professionalism demonstrated. We are confident that he will be able to clarify the charges, which we have recently read about in the press, and he will continue to stand out for his quality and commitment. The role of extraordinary commissioner was entrusted to Admiral Massimo Seno. Former commander of the Port Authority of La Spezia from 2017 to 2019, today he is head of the 2nd Legal Affairs and Institute Services Department at the General Command of the Port Authorities”.
Piacenza, reached by a warrant information for abuse of office as part of the investigation which led to the arrest of the former president of the authority Paolo Signorini and the governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti and the entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli under house arrest , was appointed in October last year after Signorini’s move to the top of Iren.
“My priority – explains Piacenza immediately after communicating his decision – is to guarantee maximum serenity to the Authority and to the entire port system with respect to the assumption of the next strategic choices and decisions as well as the consequent administrative acts in such a crucial moment for the ports of Genoa and Savona. With the spirit of service that has always characterized my work, as general secretary I will guarantee active collaboration and support from the structure to the newly appointed commissioner for a further acceleration of the completion of the strategic infrastructures underway in our port system”.
