These are Francesco Peghin’s statements released today at the press conference: “I represent Oughourlian and the company, but also myself. About a year ago when my entry was presented I said what were the reasons why I entered. It was out of passion for the team and for the white shield colours. Subsequently I experienced that magnificent ride with the playoff lost in Novara. I wanted to help by entering with a 25% share to try to pursue the goal of Serie B. I went to London last week, it was the first time. It was important to discuss and I came away very satisfied from this meeting. I saw Oughourlian excited and motivated for the next season. He’s not on his way out. In light of this I have decided to continue as president and to relaunch by investing in Calcio Padova by bringing additional resources, another million. A few words about what happened last year. The season wasn’t a failure, even if we didn’t reach our goal. Ten other teams of a high caliber and presence in Serie A wanted Serie B. We want to fight for Serie B. There was a good atmosphere during the year and we were all hoping for promotion. The results were coming, then something didn’t work. What? Something was missing from the team in crucial moments. Only with Triestina did we have a great performance. The second round was different and the team missed key matches. With Legnago, with Trento and with Vicenza we were unable to seize the opportunities. Even the missed Italian Cup left me with it, we ate it ourselves, both on the first leg and on the return leg. In the playoffs, Vicenza proved to be stronger than us, even if we had bad luck. We finished second, three points behind Mantua. It wasn’t a unsuccessful championship. I really believe in this team and with some adjustments we can achieve excellent results.”
