Viterbo – Tomorrow afternoon the Mille Miglia returns to the historic center, here is the program and prohibitions

First arrivals expected around 3pm in Valle Faul, from there the cars will cross the historic center to exit Porta Romana and head to Ronciglione

VITERBO – Big appointment tomorrow 13 June with the Mille Miglia which returns promptly to amaze the people of Viterbo with historic cars dating back to 1956. It will start from 3pm, the scheduled time for the first arrivals of the cars in Valle Faul.

From there the route plans to reach Piazza del Sacrario and then go up Via Ascenzi, Piazza del Plebiscito, Via Cavour, Via Garibaldi and then Via Santa Maria in Gradi towards Ronciglione.

An alternative and “against traffic” route for the great historical-sports representation that will not fail to attract many spectators. Among the other innovations is also that of being able to admire the vintage cars parked in Valle Faul where they will stop for a few minutes before leaving one after the other.

“The 1000 Miglia returns to Viterbo and this year in a new way – underlined the mayor Chiara Frontini on the occasion of today’s press conference at Palazzo dei Priori, during which the main events that Viterbo will host starting from from tomorrow 13th to Sunday 16th June – This year it will not be a simple passage, but the historical re-enactment will make a stop in the city. An opportunity for visibility and promotion of our territory and a beautiful event not to be missed. The administration has also invested this year to include Viterbo in the 1000 mile route. Thanks to everyone who makes the transition possible.”

Below are the indications provided regarding traffic:

– Starting from 10am until the need ceases – we read in the provision – the parking ban with forced removal, on both sides, in piazza San Sisto, via Garibaldi, piazza Fontana Grande, via Cavour, via Ascenzi, piazzale Difesa Parachutisti della Folgore (area used as a Valle Faul car park);

from 3.00 pm until the end of the event, vehicular traffic will be prohibited along the route via Faul – via El Alamein in order to allow timely control of the cars participating in the event. The closure will take place by means of cordoning at the intersection areas of via Faul with via Sant’Antonio and piazzale Martiri d’Unità with via El Alamein;

from 3.00 pm, one-way traffic will be established along the following route reserved exclusively for participants in the event: Piazza del Plebiscito, Via Cavour, Piazza Fontana Grande, Via Garibaldi, Piazza S. Sisto, Porta Romana. It is reiterated that the cars participating in the 1000 Miglia will proceed in the reverse direction compared to the ordinary one.

Traffic entering from Porta Romana will be prohibited and traffic will be prohibited – in the direction of Via Garibaldi – in Via del Meone and Via dei Mille; local traffic from via del Meone, via della Bontà, via T. Carletti and surrounding areas will be able to circulate in via San Leonardo, where two-way traffic will temporarily be allowed. Local traffic on the last part of via dei Mille and surrounding areas will be able to circulate in the direction of via Traversa.

– From 3.00 pm until the end of the event, in order to facilitate the passage of the vehicles of the participants in the event, if necessary, further traffic measures may be adopted along the following route: Piazza Martiri delle Foibe Istriane, door entrance Faul, via Faul (time control), via El Alamein, piazza Martiri d’Unità, via Ascenzi, piazza del Plebiscito, via Cavour, piazza Fontana Grande, via Garibaldi, piazza San Sisto, exit from Porta Romana, via Santa Maria in Gradi , Cimina road.

Furthermore, from 00.00 to 24.00 on 13 June, given the impossibility for the buses of the urban TPL service to reach the terminus of Piazzale Martiri d’Unità, due to the closure of via Marconi for the European Market and of via Faul/via El Alamein for the 1000 Miglia itself, the LPT terminus will be temporarily moved to the Western ring roadin the area adjacent to the COTRAL terminal, including the area below the via A Volta overpass (for changes to the TPL line routes, consult the website www.francigena.vt.it). In this area, therefore, a parking ban with forced removal will be established for all categories of vehicles.

Please note that the car park in Piazzale Martiri d’Unità will be accessible to users and reachable from Via Cairoli and Via Vallepiatta (through Via Sant’Antonio).
