humanitarian mission for 100 Ukrainian children orphaned by war

Humanitarian mission for AIR Campania. The initiative, organized in agreement with the Campania Region and in collaboration with the “San Volodymyr of Kyiv” Association chaired by Don Giuseppe Di Bernardo, will allow 100 Ukrainian children orphaned by war, coming from the city of Ivano-Frankivs’k , in the south-west of Ukraine, to participate in a summer camp that will take place in Palinuro until June 24th.

This morning, two buses from the fleet left Caserta. The delegation, led by the administrator of AIR Campania, Anthony Acconcia, will reach Luzhanka Border (on the border with Ukraine) where they will be welcomed by Don Andrii Budziak, director of Caritas of the city of Nadvirna, who has been managing a structure offering refuge for two years to war refugees. From there, the mission will depart for Palinuro, with arrival scheduled for June 14th.

At the summer camp, waiting for the 100 children there will be another 40 children from the Ukrainian community of the “Santissima Trinità” of Caserta, led by Father Ihor Danylchuk, who will be accompanied to Cilento by an AIR Campania bus. The aim is to offer them a period of leisure and support their emotional and social development.

For AIR Campania it is the second humanitarian mission to support the victims of the conflict, after that of March 2022, when the delegation brought 97 refugees to safety, including 55 adults and 42 children and young people, offering them an escape route from the war and a safe place to start again.

Don Giuseppe Di Bernardo, president of the “St. Volodymyr of Kyiv” Association, expressed his gratitude to the company and the employees who wanted to show their closeness to the war orphans by raising the sum of 7,800 euros for the project: « Thanks to the generosity and commitment of AIR Campania – he said – we can offer these children a break from difficulties and pain, allowing them to experience moments of carefreeness and joy in a safe and welcoming environment”.

The administrator of AIR Campania, Anthony Acconcia, said he was «honored to be able to contribute, once again, to such an important cause. Our mission is not only to transport people, but also to help our communities and support those in difficulty. Special thanks go to the Campania Region, the Consorzio Unico Campania, Don Giuseppe Di Bernardo, Father Ihor Danylchuk and all those who made this mission possible, demonstrating the importance of collaboration and community commitment. This summer camp will offer children the opportunity to rediscover serenity and hope for the future. Our hope is that the war in Ukraine and all other conflicts that afflict the world will end soon, allowing those affected to find peace and security.”
