A beacon of multidisciplinary surgical training

Terni Hospital: A Lighthouse in Multidisciplinary Surgical Training

The Terni Hospital, with its Multidisciplinary Short Cycle Surgery, is establishing itself as a fundamental point of reference in the field of surgical training. Recently, the students of the Advanced Training Master in Ambulatory Surgery and Day Surgery, organized by the National Hospital School of Surgery ACOI (Association of Italian Hospital Surgeons), concluded their practical training at this facility, under the guidance of Dr. Claudio Nazzaro.

This training course saw the collaboration of professionals from different Italian regions and hospitals, including Dr. Costanza Bisordi from the Apuane Hospital in Marina di Massa, Dr. Claudia Dal Conte from the San Paolo Hospital in Milan, Dr. Filippo De Pasquale of the Frosinone Hospital and Dr. Marco Mocci of the Cagliari Hospital.

The Short Cycle Multidisciplinary Surgery of the Terni Hospital has been recognized as an accredited National Teaching Center for the ACOI Higher Education course. This recognition allows the structure to be a place for training and dissemination of good practices for surgeons, anesthetists, medical directors and nurses. The objective is to develop the technical and management skills necessary to safely organize the care path in short-cycle surgery settings.

One of the main objectives of the ACOI School is to stimulate the widespread adoption of clinical governance tools and to deepen the surgical and anesthetic techniques relating to the main interventions that can be performed in Short Cycle Surgery. This also includes training on the choice of innovative devices suitable for allowing patients to be discharged early, encouraging the acquisition of non-technical skills.

Dr. Nazzaro and Dr. Taizzani underline with pride and satisfaction the opportunity of having hosted motivated professionals from four Italian regions for the internship. Being recognized as an ACOI national training center offers the opportunity to host and transmit their efficient organizational model to high-level colleagues, encouraging a fundamental exchange in terms of relationships, knowledge and skills. This allows us to continue moving in a national network system capable of guaranteeing professional growth and cultural development.
