Five security towers distributed along the seafront. All eyes will be on the entrances to the Fiera del Levante: from the ornamental one, to the oriental one and finally to the ‘agriculture’ entrance. The entire area is monitored while parking and stopping bans have been put in place. It is the G7 effect which also concerns Bari where a Media center has been set up at the Fair with around 1,600 journalists from all over the world. On the evening of June 13th Brindisi will host the dinner with which the work will officially begin in the presence of the Head of State Sergio Mattarella. During those hours, airspace over the city will be banned and in the following days the no fly zone will also cover some areas south-west of Bari and Polignano a Mare. In general, in the areas where the heads of state will stay, between Borgo Egnazia and Masseria San Domenico, aircraft that do not follow the requirements may be subject to air defense actions. A Samp-T anti-missile battery is also ready. The sea will be monitored by Navy ships and “frogmen”. The Joint Operations Room (SOI) will monitor all phases of the event, where the images from the cameras located throughout the territory will also flow. From today until June 16, even residents in maximum security areas will be able to access and circulate only with special passes. Bathing is prohibited for everyone.

In Brindisi, on Thursday, on the occasion of the dinner of the heads of state, the commercial premises in the red zone will also be closed for the whole day. Couriers, riders and taxis will not be able to access their vehicles from 7 am. Waste collection is also suspended. In the safety area around the castle, which extends for several kilometers in the center of the Messapian capital, you will only be able to travel with the shuttles made available by the Municipality. Medical practices have been asked to consider rescheduling non-urgent appointments.

The prefectures of Bari, Brindisi and Taranto have ordered the temporary suspension of circulation for vehicles with a total mass exceeding 7.5 tonnes or used for the transport of dangerous goods, in particular on the state road 16 in the stretch that connects Bari to Brindisi in both directions. There are seven heliports set up in the areas affected by the G7, three of which are in Borgo Egnazia. Off the coast of Puglia, between Brindisi and Savelletri, a US ship has already arrived on board which – according to rumors – President Biden should sleep.
