At the Arno Vivo space in Pisa, a month of cumbia, bossa and afrobeat to dance to

Countdown to the fourth edition of the festival Pisa Jazz Rebirth edited by ExWide Association with the artistic direction of Francesco Mariotti and the contribution of Pisa Foundation, Ministry of Culture, Tuscany Region and Municipality of Pisa.

To warm up the engines, waiting for the stars who will take the stage in July Scotto Garden the Arno Vivo space (Lungarno Bruno Buozzi 1) will host three concerts with sounds from all over the world.

Opening of the dances June 14th with AfroQuiesa Orchestra, formation that mixes funk, jazz and afro beat atmospheres for a performance to dance to.

The June 21st comes directly from the beating heart of Mexico Kumbia Boruka, a very powerful experience that engages classic Colombian cumbia with reggae, dub, desert rock and psychedelia.

And finally the bassist Rosa Brunello will present the new album “Senseless Acts Of Love” freshly released on the Los Angeles label Question Music il June 28.

AfroQuiesa Orchestraguests in Pisa on June 14thI am a collective with a universal spirit born almost a decade ago from an idea of Tommaso Marraccini and Emanuele Volpi, drummer and guitarist of the band respectively. Today AfroQuiesa matters ten artists on stage – together with the founders Alessandro Andreoni on the bassFrancesco Viani on guitar, Paolo Quattriglia on percussion, Andrea Baroni on keyboards, Andrea Battistoni on the trumpetAlessandro Giannotti on the trombone, Ilaria Sebastiani on the flute and Gabriel Petretti on sax – and offers a constant game between different genres: jazz-funk, afrofunk and world music.

The date is unmissable June 21st with Kumbia Boruka: multicultural band based in Lyon, in France, whose roots lie in the city of Monterrey, in northern Mexico, where cumbia is the neighborhood anthem and where Mexican cumbia legend, Celso Piña, was born. Hernán Cortes, leader of Kumbia Boruka, learned to play the accordion from this great master and accompanied him on long international tours. The band’s music reflects the sound of the Mexican streets: classic cumbia mixed with influences of reggae, dub and tropical musicpsychedelic electric guitar melodies, a large rhythm section including guacharacas and congas, powerful and exciting brass arrangements and, last but not least, the brilliant sound of the accordion. The result is a new cumbia, hybrid and full of power, intense tropical sounds with a ferocious energy that embraces the rhythms of Latin America. Closing on June 28th with Rosa Brunello, bassist and composer capable of moving easily between free improvisations and electric rock, dub and South American music. She loves to blend acoustic and electronic sounds for challenge the boundaries between genres and live by his motto of music without borders. He developed his musical style while studying in Berlin, Paris and Amsterdam, honing a personal sound through performances around the world.
