There have been 491 oaths made for Italian citizenship since the junta took office

During the morning, in the Council Chamber, 15 new Italian citizenships were conferred. For the occasion, shortly before the start of the oaths, Ilaria Fantin, councilor for culture, tourism and attractiveness of the city, together with her friend and fellow musician Hersi Matmuja, a new Italian citizen originally from Kukës (Albania), presented honored those present by playing the archlute and interpreting an Albanian song entitled “Lumjane”.

An institutional moment, therefore, but also festive and joyful, much appreciated by the new Italian citizens who did not fail to thank the councilors. «I wanted to surprise these new citizens of Vicenza – comments Fantin -. I am happy and proud to have made this moment more joyful and fun.”

«Since the installation of the current administration, a year ago, – adds the councilor for demographic services Leonardo Nicolai – a total of 491 oaths have been taken, at the conclusion of the procedure for acquiring Italian citizenship. A tradition to which we are trying to give ever more value, having brought it to the Council Chamber in an atmosphere that is not only institutional, but also one of celebration and joy. The City of Vicenza is committed to ensuring that those who become Italian citizens acquire civic awareness, so that they can understand and implement the rights and duties provided for by our constitution. A sincere welcome to all of them in the Vicenza community.”
