DOVARESE ISLAND – The confirmed municipal administration led by the mayor Gianpaolo Gansi starts again with good news. «The Ministry of Infrastructure – reports the mayor – has granted us a contribution of 150 thousand euros to finance the project redevelopment of via Pistoia”. Project which the Province reported on last April 5th. «This is a work that fits into the context of initiatives for urban safety and redevelopment», recalls the mayor.

The intervention is part of an important project presented last year in associated form together with other Municipalities, Canneto sull’Oglio (leader), Piadena-Drizzona, Calvatone, Tornata, Acquanegra sul Chiese And Cocoon, which had been admitted but had not been funded. In recent weeks the project had been canceled and resubmitted, in the hope of being able to draw on the necessary funds, which occurred.

The objective is to arrange the area so that it becomes the true ‘southern gateway’ to the historic centre, as it involves a portion of the urban fabric which is an integral part of the oldest nucleus, but which, despite its proximity to the most central places of the village, is in fact perceived as marginal. The works include the expansion of the portion dedicated to pedestrians and cyclists, with safety measures, as well as the resurfacing of the roadway. Furthermore, it is in synergy, as a natural continuation of the axis of via Garibaldi (the urban stretch of provincial road 29), with the creation of a new public car park located at the intersection with via Pistoia.

It is a work that represents the first operational step in the implementation of the Plan for the elimination of architectural barriers. The Municipality participated in the tender by applying for the construction of a first section of via Pistoia, i.e. the stretch between via Giuseppe Garibaldi and the entrance to via Giosuè Carducci, proceeding to divide the economic framework of the approved project into two lots. “It’s difficult to make predictions about the timing – comments the mayor – but I presume that we will complete the work within a year.” Now, in the meantime, the municipal council for the 2024-2029 mandate needs to be set.
