Petrocchi leaves Ceam, Cibotti president – L’Aquila

THE EAGLE. Having now come close to the end of his ministry as ordinary in L’Aquila, the cardinal archbishop Giuseppe Petrocchi he resigned from the position of president of the Ceam to allow the appointment of his successor at the helm of the Abruzzo-Molise Episcopal Conference, in view of the summer commitments that the Ceam will have to bear for the celebration of the 2025 Jubilee.
At the Ceam meeting they were elected president Camillo Cibotti, bishop of Isernia-Venafro; as vice president Emidio Cipollonearchbishop of Lanciano-Ortona (originally from Cese di Avezzano) and as secretary Antonio D’Angelocoadjutor of L’Aquila.
Cibotti, a native of Casalbordino (Chieti), will turn 70 on October 28th. Since 8 May 2014 he has been bishop of Isernia-Venafro. Ordained a priest on 1 July 1978 in his native town, by the archbishop Vincenzo Fagiolo (later cardinal), was parish priest in Liscia from 1978 to 1985, spiritual father at the regional seminary from 1985 to 1988, parish priest in Ripa Teatina from 1988 to 1994, parish priest of the Santissima Trinità and rector of San Domenico in Chieti from 1994 to 2005, diocesan assistant of the Fuci from 1995 to 2000. On 8 November 2005 Archbishop Forte appointed him vicar general of the archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto. He taught moral theology at the Abruzzo-Molisan theological institute and was ordained bishop in the sanctuary of the Madonna dei Miracoli in Casalbordino. He was general secretary of Ceam.
