The 19,832 preferences in the North West constituency for the European elections are still very many, but they were not enough for Alessandro Fermi (Lega) from Como to be elected to the European Parliament.
The not extraordinary performance of the party, combined with the only 8 seats gained for Salvini’s party and the 5 candidates in the same list who did better (General Vannacci with 186,637 votes, Silvia Sardone with 75,007, Isabella Tovaglieri with 39,949, Angelo Ciocca with 38.745 and Francesco Bruzzone with 24.343) made the dream fade away. And among other things they have once again condemned Como to not having an MEP. Fermi, however, will remain regional university councilor and in the meantime he has sent thanks to those who supported him.
“Twenty thousand thanks to everyone – wrote Fermi – It was an exciting journey, tiring but full of new friendships. And in the end we reached almost 20 thousand preferences, a result that, at the beginning of this experience, I would never have imagined.”
“I therefore want to thank one by one all the friends who decided to support me with their trust: twenty thousand people who wrote my name on the ballot. A big hug to everyone, I love you,” she concluded.
