In the province, the “winners” are Riccardo Gallo, the Agrigento leader of Forza Italia (who could also become councilor of the Region in the near future) and Totò Cuffaro, the former president of the Region rehabilitated after serving his sentence for aiding and abetting the mafia.

In the capital, however, the axis is held by Riccardo Gallo and Roberto Di Mauro (who supported Caterina Chinnici), numbers that should allow the majority in the Municipality to still keep the exponents of Cuffaro’s New DC out of the Council, practically the only force of opposition to Mayor Francesco Miccichè, a direct expression of the vice president of the Region Roberto Di Mauro (who, however, is not enthusiastic about the Government’s action in the city).

This is what the results of the European elections told us, whose electoral system meant that the forces of individual deputies could compete at the polls.

Voting in the province

And so throughout the province of Agrigento the 17,588 votes obtained by the other Forza Italia deputy Margherita La Rocca Ruvolo can be “fallen” on the Riccardo Gallo component of Forza Italia, against the 17,078 votes of Massimo Dell’Utri, the candidate on the list with Forza Italia supported by Totò Cuffaro.

Giusi Savarino, the Agrigento deputy of the Fratelli d’Italia, this time also supported by the deputy Calogero Pisano, formally outside the party, but in fact the man who still deals the cards in the world of the Agrigento FdI, reached 9,059 votes. The most voted in her party in the province of Agrigento after, obviously, Giorgia Meloni.

Annalisa Tardino, the outgoing MEP, stops at 5,316 (essentially the same as in 2019, when the votes were 5,791 in the province of Agrigento) but this time in the whole of Sicily she went just above 15 thousand, compared to 32 thousand in 2019. She had been second only behind Matteo Salvini, this time she is fourth in Sicily, behind Stancanelli, Vannacci and Turano.

The vote in Agrigento

In the shadow of the temples the Gallo – Di Mauro axis holds: the Forza Italia deputy – with the votes in La Rocca Ruvolo – reaches 1,609, just over 200 compared to Caterina Chinnici (supported by Di Mauro, 1,399). Third Massimo Dell’Utri, Totò Cuffaro’s candidate. Giusi Savarino, also supported by Calogero Pisano, did not reach a thousand votes in the city (936).
