One of the highest results in the history of the Democratic Party of Cerignola: in our city the PD achieved a consensus of 30.4%, i.e. 3045 votes. The highest percentage result compared to the large municipalities in the province of Foggia and among the highest in the large southern municipalities. Antonio Decarothe leading candidate of the PD, is first in Cerignola with 2254 preferences, follows Melons with 1685 preferences. In the second PD list Lucia Annunziata with 747 and Pina Picierno with 351 votes.
That of Cerignola’s PD is an extraordinary result, if you consider that in the 2019 European elections, with a higher turnout, the Democratic Party obtained 19% and 2594 votes. So today, even though the number of voters is decreasing, the PD of Cerignola it grew by around 500 preferences and around 11 percentage points. Even compared to the 2022 political elections, the PD increases its figure: at the time it recorded 2334 votes equal to 12.81%.
But, probably, the most important victory is given by the progressive forces as a whole: adding the Brothers of Italy, the League and Forza Italia – which today govern Italy and aspire to administer Cerignola – the right-wing forces reach 43%. The sole sum of the progressive forces – which they administer today Cerignola – given by the PD and the M5S by 47%. If we also add the other left-wing forces such as AVS, the 50% threshold is well exceeded.
Even considering a context of great abstention, a real problem for all politics in Cerignola and in general for the whole south, Cerignola confirms itself as a left-wing and progressive city. A special thank you to all the members, leaders and supporters of the party. A big thank you to all the civic forces who wanted to lend a hand by voting for Decaro and for the PD.
While on the right they competed for the local leadership in a fratricidal war and lost like raspberries (but we will return to this, of course if we return!), the left marched divided and struck united, with a great proof of maturity of its ruling class. It is the signal we were waiting for, to continue to do well and better, to feel trust, to cultivate unity and to look to the future with hope and optimism.
