*In the week from 10 to 14 June the Department of Physical Sciences,
Informatics and Mathematics of Unimore organizes the initiative “Face to face
with science”, an important opportunity for orientation and development of
transversal skills for around 60 high school students
Modena and Reggio Emilia area*
From *10 to 14 June*, the Department of Physical, Computer and
Matematiche di Unimore (FIM) hosts the initiative “*Face to face with the
science*”, an important opportunity for orientation and skills development
transversal for *approximately 60 students from *high schools in the area
Modena and Reggio Emilia, who will have the opportunity to *get in touch
directly with the world of Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics.*
On 10 June, from 9.30 to 17.00, in the Physics building (room L1.3),
the orientation initiative “*Science is my profession!” will be held,*
in which high school students will be able to
*go into detail
the disciplines of the department and discover the numerous possibilities of
employment that the labor market offers to graduates in Physics and Computer Science
and Mathematics*. The day includes speeches by professionals graduated in
these disciplines, currently employed by important local companies,
national and international, or active in teaching, which they will share
their work experiences and will describe how the degree in these
subjects has positively influenced their careers.
The “Face to Face with Science” initiative will continue throughout the week
until Friday 14 June, with *students and last year students
years of secondary school* who, based on their own
interests, *will have the opportunity to* *work closely with
University researchers and teachers*. The program includes activities
seminars, workshops and moments of re-elaboration of the topics
faced, to deepen their knowledge in Physics, Computer Science and
Mathematics.
At the end of the week, the traditional *”contest” will be held, where the
students, divided into small groups, will present in an original way and
creative a concept or topic chosen from those covered*, *using
only commonly used objects*. The best presentations will be rewarded
with Unimore gadgets and popular science books.
All the week’s initiatives are coordinated by the commission for
the dissemination of the scientific culture of the Department of Science
Physics, Computer Science and Mathematics, chaired by Prof. *Michela
Eleutherians*.
