New Basketball L’Aquilano, Francesco Barilla new coach for the 2024/2025 season

L’AQUILA – Francesco Barilla, coach originally from Reggio Calabria, born in 1983, will be the new coach responsible for the formation of Nuovo Basket L’Aquilano, also starting in the 2024/2025 season of the prestigious Interregional Serie B Championship.

The choice of the PalaAngeli club was aimed at a coach with proven experience, both in the senior and youth fields, a mix that is well suited to the usual policy of the L’Aquila club, which has always aimed at integrating its talents into the first team staff of an under-fertile sector.

Barilla has just spent two years at the helm of the Serie C Gold team and then the Serie C Unica of Don Bosco Livorno, a club that has always been at the forefront in the care and growth of youth activity at a national level, and in this sense the coach Reggino was also responsible for the Under 19 Eccellenza and Under 17 Eccellenza Labronici teams.

In the two previous seasons Barilla led Lamezia Terme in Serie C Gold, reaching the playoffs for access to the National Serie B: previously important excellent youth experiences were spent in particular with Viola Reggio Calabria and Hsc Roma, with which company reached three National Finals with a second place overall.

The agreement with the new Head Coach, who will also be responsible for the club’s youth training, demonstrates how the L’Aquila team is working with great intensity on the market and, after this arrival and the confirmations of the playmaker Francesco Compagnoni and the Argentine striker Leo Cecchi, new movements are in the pipeline capable of making the team competitive as always, which will try to give even more satisfaction to the many city fans next season.

President Roberto Nardecchia: “On behalf of the entire club I welcome Francesco Barilla into what is traditionally a large family, always able to welcome new arrivals in the best possible way, putting them in the best conditions to express themselves. The choice of the new coach follows the path that has always been followed, that of allowing the integration of athletes and coaches from outside L’Aquila with our boys and the existing technical staff, trying to express on the parquet a game that is as similar as possible to our usual characteristics. of great intensity on both sides of the pitch and a strong sense of belonging. I thank the management staff of Don Bosco Livorno for allowing us with their usual sportsmanship to carry forward the negotiation with Francesco.”

Coach Francesco Barilla: “It was very easy to immediately immerse myself in this new challenge. From the first informal phone call with the president there were very few doubts. The solid structure of this company, together with the ideals carried forward over the years, certainly constitute the most suitable environment for me to get involved and try to do my best. I can’t wait to get to work and start a busy and highly stimulating season. I would also like to thank Pallacanestro Don Bosco Livorno for sharing and supporting this choice, in addition to the great growth path in which I have been accompanied in the last two seasons. See you soon L’Aquila! See you at PalaAngeli!”
