Europeans, eight elected in the Islands constituency: here’s who they are

The picture of the eight elected from the Islands constituency to the European Parliament in Strasbourg is substantially clear. Two seats should go to Forza Italia, two to Fratelli d’Italia and one each to Pd, Lega, Movimento Cinque Stelle and Avs.

The elected representatives of Forza Italia

Edy Tamajo and Marco Falcone go to Strasbourg. The first obtained over 121 thousand votes, the second reached 100 thousand. Third, before the non-elected, is the head of the list Caterina Chinnici with more than 93 thousand preferences (in the last European elections she had obtained 113,248 votes as an independent candidate with the Democratic Party). Tamajo and Falcone, both councilors in Renato Schifani’s council, led the list. Fi is the first party in Sicily. Chinnici elected if one of the two councilors resigns (it could be Tamajo).

The elected members of the Brothers of Italy

Giorgia Meloni was the most voted but would have to renounce, therefore in Stasburg go the outgoing MEP Giuseppe Milazzo and Ruggero Razza third on the Fdi list who would be elected with Meloni’s renouncement.

The other elected ones

In the Democratic Party the person elected should be Giuseppe Lupo (even formally the person elected is Elly Schlein who is not necessarily going to opt for the Islands constituency and is not necessarily going to choose Stasburgo).

In the League the person elected is the outgoing MEP Raffaele Stancanelli who in Sicily overtook General Vannacci and the outgoing Tardino who therefore does not return to Parliament.

In the M5S the elected candidate should be Giuseppe Antoci.

In the Avs, however, Ilaria Salis obtained a total of 176,368 preferences. In insular Italy you got 50,401 votes (26,210 in Sicily), in North-Western Italy you got 125,967 votes (15,977 out of 15,999 sections). If Salis and Mimmo Lucano opt for election in another constituency, the former mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando who obtained 18,540 votes should go to the European Parliament from the Isole per Avs constituency.
