PESCARA. Fratelli d’Italia is the first party in Abruzzo in the 2024 European elections, with a percentage – 33.3% – higher than the national average and growing compared to the 27% of the 2022 elections and the 7% of the 2019 European elections. The Democratic Party is in second place, with just over 20.3% (16.6% in 2022, 16.9% in 2019); followed by the 5 Star Movement which drops to 12% from 18.4% in 2022 and 22.4% in 2019, Forza Italia at 10.82% (11.1% in 2022 and 9.3% in 2019), Lega at 7.93% (8.2% in 2022 and 35.3% in 2019) and Alleanza Verdi Sinistra at 5.26% which doubles the figure for the latest policies (2.68%).
Among the Abruzzo candidates, the result of Antonella Ballone (Forza Italia) stands out with 41 thousand preferences in the southern constituency, of which around 14 thousand obtained in Abruzzo. All eyes are also on Pescara, where we are voting for the local elections: according to the exit polls of the Opinio Italia consortium for Rai, the outgoing mayor Carlo Masci (centre-right) is ahead with a figure between 47.5% and 51, 5%, but a run-off with the center-left candidate, Carlo Costantini, is probable (34-38%).
As regards the European elections, turnout dropped, stopping at 47.12%, lower than the national average (49.69%) and lower than the regional figure five years ago (52.61). “A great result and further growth of Fratelli d’Italia is expected – comments FdI’s Abruzzo senator Guido Quintino Liris, while the vote is still underway – There is a clear increase compared to the September 2022 policies, a clear sign of Giorgia’s excellent work”.
