European elections, turnout at its lowest
The first obvious fact is the turnout. In the province of Varese there were just over 50% of those entitled to vote (51.69%, 379,316 voters out of 733,764 voters). Five years ago 60.59% was reached, 438,982 voters out of 724,507 voters. The municipality with the highest percentage figure was Duno with 77.52%; the lowest Lavena Ponte Tresa with 26.48%.
The results of the parties
Few surprises compared to the forecasts and the national data on the winner of the European round: Fratelli d’Italia gained votes reaching 32.55% (117,951 votes), clearly separating the Democratic Party, the second party in the province, which reached 19.51 % (70,691 votes). Third step of the podium is the League which in its “stronghold” holds onto the national result with 14.41% (52,235 votes) and beats Forza Italia, behind with 10.03% (36,332 votes).
Followed, in order, by the Green Alliance and the Left with 6.26 (22,681 votes), the 5 Star Movement with 6.16% (22,315 votes), Action with 4.17% (15,095 votes), United States of Europe with 3, 81% (13,795 votes), Pace Terra e Dignità with 11.8% (6,541 votes) and finally Libertà, Alternativa Popolare and Rassemblemant Valdotain with 0.72% (2,602 votes), 0.4% (1,443 votes) respectively ) and 0.2% (729 votes).
Question of preferences
Next data, preferences. The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is the queen of votes with 37,614 preferences collected in the province of Varese, Mario Mantovani also doing well in the FdI camp with 3,965 and at the moment the only one from Varese certain of entering the European Parliament. Third was the mayor of Daverio Marco Colombo with 3,573 votes.
In the Democratic Party, Miss Preferences Cecilia Strada with 13,984 indications from voters ahead of Giorgio Gori (9,098) and Irene Tinagli (4,106).
Campo Lega, General Roberto Vannacci ahead of everyone with 12,327 votes and ahead of the outgoing Bustocca MEP Isabella Tovaglieri (10,976 votes), who must hope for the reassignment of the Action and United States of Europe seats (which remained below the threshold) .
In Forza Italia, Minister Antonio Tajani wins with 4,638 votes ahead of Marco Reguzzoni with 4,085 in his province, but despite the “endorsment” of the founder of the League Umberto Bossi he does not “break through” at constituency level (7,293 votes overall).
Among the AVS candidates, Ilaria Salis came first with 5,278 votes ahead of Mimmo Lucano with 1,910.
Finally, in the 5 Star Movement, the outgoing Maria Angela Danzì came first with 925 votes, and with the data collected at constituency level she should be reconfirmed.
