The candidate from the centre-left is given between 49 and 53%, that of the centre-right around 44%

Umbria is among the Italian regions with the highest voter participation: with a turnout of 56.46% (in the Terni area it was close to 70%) it is second only to Lazio.

There are hours of frantic waiting in the Umbrian capital. The exit polls give Vittoria Ferdinandi, candidate of the left-wing coalition, between 49 and 53%, while Margherita Scoccia, candidate of the centre-right, is given around 44%.

The other two candidates for Palazzo dei Priori recorded results below expectations, Monni (Perugia Merita) was given 1.3% and Caponi (No to war – PCI) even 0.2%.

If confirmed, these results would confirm the trend towards “bipolarity” which appears even more clear at a national level with the (real) results of the European elections. Here, in fact, Giorgia Meloni reached almost 30% and Schlein positioned herself at 24%.

The final result brought home by Antonio Tajani was good and he concluded the electoral challenge by touching 10%, overtaking Salvini’s League and positioning Forza Italia as the second majority force: a great result dedicated to Silvio Berlusconi.

Returning to matters at home, it must be considered that the results of the exit polls of the Perugia municipal elections were carried out on a sample of voters of only 30 seats and which, therefore, could be susceptible to substantial variations. We could have confirmation or not around 4pm when almost all the sections scrutinized will be.

Even if Forza Italia reaches the Italian average in the European elections in Umbria, it is not certain that Andrea Romizi, outgoing mayor and supporter of Margherita Scoccia with his own list, Fare Perugia, could envisage running for the next regional elections, even if the centre-right, before the elections, declared that Tesei is the only one confirmed for the renewal of the position of President of the Region in the next regional elections of November – December 2024.
