Was “caught red-handed” with 108 kilos of hashish on board a rented Audi Q3, the multi-convict from Vittoria, but resident for years in San Donato Milanese, was arrested by the policemen of the Ragusa Flying Squad and the Vittoria police station on Saturday 7 June.
Specifically, as part of targeted services aimed at combating drug dealing squares, the Audi, passing near Viale Colonello Vito Andrea Iannizzotto, attracted the attention of the investigators because the driver, at the sight of the policemen, increased the travel speed significantly.
The officers, becoming suspicious, promptly stopped the car and identified the driver as a 46-year-old known to have multiple criminal convictions with police and criminal records relating to drugs.
The man immediately appeared agitated and intolerant of control, which is why the operators searched both him and the car, discovering, cleverly hidden inside the trunk, three large parallelepiped-shaped containers containing 108 kg of substance. narcotic of the hashish type, divided into 108 blocks as well as the sum of 10,000 euros in 50 euro banknotes kept inside a pouch.
The forty-five-year-old was arrested in consideration of the large quantity of hashish destined for the drug dealing centers of Vittoria and the province of Ragusa and on the orders of the prosecutor on duty, taken to the prison in Ragusa at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
The value of the seized drugs was huge and, once placed on the market, would have yielded the sum of over two million euros.
