During the long interview granted to 12 TvParma for the program 100 years of the Tardini Stadium, Gianluigi Buffon he spoke about the victory in the World Cup, which had a yellow-blue nuance: “There was a lot of Parma in that success. Besides me in that final there were Cannavaro, Gilardino, Barone, Inzaghi, in France Thuram and Boghossian. This makes it clear what heights Parma reached, what it represented for football in those 15 years. I won the World Cup in 2006, if I got there it was certainly because all the years in Parma, from the youth ranks and the years in the first team, gave me the awareness of being able to reach the top of the world.”
On the move to Juventus: “I was 23 years old. The foreign teams followed me for 2-3 years, trying to convince me in every way. In my head, however, there was the idea of winning the scudetto with Parma, that was the dream, I sent the offers back to sender. That year, however, I understood or they made me realize that Parma’s trajectory was starting to trend downwards. At that point I made a professional choice, giving up the career I had would have been too much.”
