Bridge over the Mella in Collebeato closed today for works: traffic changes

The construction site of the most talked about and discussed work in the town is reality: from today, Monday 10 June, the bridge over the Mella will be closed to transit to be subjected to extraordinary maintenance which will last several months.

Consequently, to leave the country with cars and motorbikes, it will be necessary to use the other route towards Urago. Pedestrians and cyclists, however, will be able to use the cycle/pedestrian walkway adjacent to the Mella bridge, which the Municipality has recently renovated. As for buses, Brescia Trasporti has modified the ordinary public transport service by limiting line 11 to the Stocchetta terminus and has established a replacement service via an internal shuttle to the municipality, called «Circolare Collebeato» with buses on six weekdays (Monday-Saturday ) in the time slots ranging from 6 to 8, from 1 to 3 and from 5 to 7.

The buses will run every 20 minutes for a total of three round trips and the stops will be the same as line 11, in addition to the new – temporary – established in via San Francesco at number 43. The line will be usable with a ticket or zone 2 season ticket.

Structure

The intervention on the Mella bridge, commissioned by the Municipality of Brescia, will make it possible to remove the limitations introduced at the end of 2017, when critical issues in the load-bearing elements of the deck emerged following structural analyses.

«At the end of the works, traffic will be one-way alternating with sight – writes the Municipality of Collebeato in a note – but, thanks to the widening of the roadway, Two vehicles will be able to pass at the same time».
