Bulgaria won the first test match against Italy at the Pala Giovanelli in Castelnovo Monti.

The two Under 18 teams that are preparing for the upcoming European Under 18 championships gave life to a beautiful match that was played in front of around 350 spectators.

Italy found itself leading two sets to one and seemed on its way to victory in the fourth set too, but Antonina Zetova’s girls took the lead and then went downhill in the final tie break.

Before the starting whistle there was room for a big round of applause for the girls of the Appennino Volley Team who had a fantastic season and after the greeting from the Mayor of Castelnovo Monti Enrico Bini, the Felina Musical Band, directed by maestro Davide Castellari , played the anthems of Bulgaria and Italy. The Bulgarian girls aroused emotion as they sang their anthem hand in hand and then the entire grandstand sang the Mameli anthem together with the Italian players.

The first collegiate in Castelnovo Monti of Italy and Bulgaria will end on Wednesday. In the next under 18 team (15-25 June) the Finnish national team will be hosted by Fipav in Castelnovo.
