In Basilicata, FdI is the first party, the Democratic Party rises, Action at 9.2%

POTENZA, 10 JUN – In Basilicata – where 42.8% of eligible voters voted for the European elections compared to 47.3% in 2019 – with 25.5% Fratelli d’Italia continues to grow and confirms itself as the first party, obtaining his best result in Lucanian political history. Then the Democratic Party with 23.1% and the M5S with 12.7%, up compared to the 13.8% and 7.6% of the Regional elections of 21 and 22 April last, clearly won by the reconfirmed governor Vito Bardi ( Forza Italia). The Five Star Movement, however, lost almost ten points compared to the 2022 policies, when, in Basilicata, they reached 22.5%. The Lucanian result of Action is also significant, which, driven by the candidate Marcello Pittella, reached 9.2%, but the former president of the Region and current regional councilor will not be elected to the European Parliament due to failure to exceed the 4% threshold at national. No Lucanian will therefore go to the European Parliament. Compared to the regional elections in April, Forza Italia (from 13 to 8.9%) and the League (from 7.8 to 5.4%) lost votes, but the centre-right – according to the exit pool of the Opinio Italia Consortium for Rai – is ahead for the Municipal elections of Potenza, where however we will have to wait for the vote (starting at 2 pm) to find out if the Northern League member Francesco Fanelli (given between 47.5 and 51.5%) will have managed to obtain the victory already in the first round. Otherwise, in the run-off on 23 and 24 June he would have to face Vincenzo Telesca, candidate of the centre-left, but without the symbol of the Democratic Party (21-25%). Further back Pierluigi Smaldone (Potenza Returns with the M5S) with a range between 14 and 18% and Francesco Giuzio (Basilicata possible) between 8 and 12%. In the 52 Lucanian municipalities also called to vote for the administrative elections – only for Potenza there is a double round – 60.9 of those entitled to vote compared to 62.7% in the previous consultations. The quorum was exceeded in five small municipalities, where there was only one mayoral candidate, therefore the electoral result was already closed in Anzi, Banzi, Barile, Guardia Perticara and Gregolane.
