A scrutineer he abandoned his post and never returned. When she was asked to explain her attitude, she first responded by providing inconclusive justifications, then reported that for the work done for her elections thinks he is paid too little.

Naples, Quagliano: scrutineer leaves seat due to too low pay, reported
The escape from the polling station occurred on the evening of Saturday 8 June. From what emerged, the 24-year-old scrutineer got up and without notifying her never returned to her station. Fortunately, operations at the polling station were not affected by her absence which was covered in good time.
After disappearing, the young woman was reported by the police of the local station for abandoning her polling station without legitimate reason.
Elections, the issue of too low wages
The topic of salaries considered too low for scrutineers has been somewhat debated in recent days. In Palermo, for example, many scrutineers appointed a few hours after the polls were set up gave up their duties.
After the SOS launched by the municipalities due to the lack of staff, circular no. 34/2024 made it possible to reconstruct the compensation due to volunteers who organize voting operations after the recent regulatory changes, which resulted in a slight increase in compensation.
How much do the scrutineers get paid?
In polling stations where only the European part-session is voted, scrutineers and secretaries are paid approximately 110 euros. The presidents, on the other hand, reach 138 euros.
Wages are reduced for so-called “special seats”, for example those set up in hospitals and prisons. In these cases the figure comes to around 56 euros for the scrutineers and 82 euros for the presidents.
In those seats where the European elections coincide with the administrative ones, there is a 15% increase and, in the best cases, a further small compensation supplement.
