The polling stations for the European elections and for the administrative elections in 9 municipalities in the province of Palermo reopened from this morning at 7 am until 11 pm this evening. The latest data relating to voter turnout are those released at 11pm last night.

In Sicily the figure is very low. Just 10.76% of those entitled to vote, at a national level the turnout was 14.65%, but in the Palermo area the figure goes against the trend at least as far as the administrative elections are concerned; in fact, 21.59% of voters expressed their preference, i.e. 25,844 out of 119,712 eligible voters in the 9 towns of the province.

Administrative data

Here is a summary of the data released by the Region, relating to the turnout at 11pm last night in the 9 municipalities of the province of Palermo.

In Bagheria, out of 48,994, 10,246 people voted, or 20.91%, which is equivalent to 5.51% more than in the previous elections. In Bompietro, out of 1,457 voters, 269 went to vote, i.e. 18.46% (+1.30%). In Borgetto, out of 7,767 voters, 1,693 voted, 21.80% (+8.64%). In Cinisi, out of 12,204 eligible voters, 2,696 voted, i.e. 22.09% (+7.47%). In Corleone, out of 10,445 voters, 2,700 cast their votes, 25.85% (+15.32%). In Monreale, out of 33,466 eligible voters, 6,943 voted, 20.75% (+6.01%). At Palazzo Adriano, 495 out of 1,875 have already gone to the polls, 26.40% (+18.11%). In Roccamena 390 out of 1,699 voted, 22.95% (+17.95%) and in San Mauro Castelverde 412 out of 1,805, 22.83% (+14.38%). The next turnout data will be released at 12.
