Frecciarossa blocked for hours, odyssey of Venice-Milan passengers: what happened

A nightmarish evening and night experienced by dozens of passengers stuck on board the train Red Arrow that gives Venice he would have had to get them to the station milan Central only after a couple of hours and a handful of minutes but which remained due to a technical fault blocked for about four hours when they were in the province of Brescia, near Casirate d’Adda, and reached destination only around midnight.

What happened

It’s a real odyssey: left on time at 5pm, shortly after 7pm he should have arrived at the station but, at the same time, a blackout made him stop the Frecciarossa when he was in the Brescia area. If it was hypothesized that it could be a minor problem, this was not the case since there was also no electric light inside the carriages with the passengers left in the dark and an increasingly hotter temperature: obviously without electricity the ‘air conditioning.

The story of the passengers

As the minutes passed, the unease mounted as did the protests. “We have been in the dark ever since, without air conditioning and the heat is increasing more and more“, said Giovanna, interviewed by TgR Lombardia, a doctor who was returning from a conference. “They gave us water and snacks, but we can’t get off the train or open the doors to let some air in.“, he stressed on the news. “We made calls to Trenitalia, the police and ambulances“, wrote another passenger on Whatsapp. “PI guess. It’s painful to see elderly people and children at the limit…“.

The rescue and the train change

The situation for the passengers inside the carriages remained unchanged until 9.30pm when Trenitalia sent a rescue locomotive to the area hoping that the situation would be resolved definitively and that the Frecciarossa could return to running quickly but this was not the case: initially it proceeded very slowly, then he “surrendered” definitively, stopping again and definitively. The only solution, at that point, was to hope that a new convoy would arrive and so it happened but only at 11pm, with the passengers remaining in the same situation for another hour and a half.

At that point they boarded the new carriages which, this time without any problems, left for Milan Central, arriving only around midnight.

Trenitalia underlined that it immediately activated rescue and assistance for passengers both during the hours of forced stop and also upon their arrival in the Lombardy capital.
