ROME (ITALPRESS) – All of Italy wins in the men’s half marathon of the European Championships in Rome. Extraordinary performance by the Azzurri, protagonists of absolute domination with two golds and a silver. The winner is Yeman Crippa who extends his lead at the entrance to the Olympic stadium and wins with 1h01:03 over 21.097 kilometres. A new success for the Trentino champion, multiple Italian record holder, with his second continental title after the one two years ago in the 10,000 on the track. But the double is celebrated thanks to a fantastic Pietro Riva: the Piedmontese manages to place second with 1h01:04, overtaking the German Amanal Petros in the sprint on the final straight, 1h01:07 for the bronze. Italy wins the team gold thanks to the decisive sixth place of the Apulian Pasquale Selvarolo in 1h01:27, among the top ten also Eyob Faniel eighth (1h01:29) and Yohanes Chiappinelli tenth (1h01:42), then Daniele Meucci 27th (1h03.45) on the route that touches some of the most evocative points of the Capital, from the Altare della Patria to Piazza Navona, from Castel Sant’Angelo to Piazza San Pietro, up to the circuit in the Lungotevere. Also on the team podium were silver from Israel and bronze from Germany. At the start of the third day, out of the six scheduled, Italy is already at the historic record of 13 medals with 7 gold, which had never happened in the previous 25 editions of the European Championships from 1934 to today: the maximum was 12 medals and 5 gold in Split in 1990.
