Farce wedding, expelled illegal immigrant marries an Italian 17 years older: arrested

PADUA – He returns clandestinely to Italy and marries an Italian woman 17 years older than him. He had already been expelled from Italy in May 2023, after having been reported several times, between Padua and Venice, for dealing of narcotic substances. After being held in the Gradisca repatriation center and identified through the Consulate General of Tunisia in Milan, he was repatriated in his country of origin. Just a year later, however, he managed to return to Italy clandestinely, believing he could remedy his position by marrying an Italian woman. He is Tunisian, just 23 years old, she is over 40 years old from the lower Padua area.

Their marriage was celebrated before the Civil Registrar of the Municipality of Pernumia, on the basis of only a valid identity document and the presentation of a permit issued by the embassy certifying the young man’s civil freedom. Having obtained the parchment certifying his union with an Italian citizen, as well as the communication of hospitality from the woman for an indefinite period and the family status certificate issued by the Municipality, the 23-year-old foreigner presented himself at the counter of the Immigration Office of the Police Headquarters of Padua convinced of being able to easily obtain the issuance of the residence permit. Verified the violation of the ban on re-entry into Italy and the absence of any prior authorization from the Ministry of the Interior, the Flying Squad policemen have it arrested. Having validated the arrest, the Judge also imposed a residence ban on him in the Veneto Region. The Flying Squad agents themselves have already initiated the necessary investigations regarding the methods and timing with which the marriage between the young irregular foreigner and the 40-year-old Italian woman was celebrated.

He was also arrested by the same Flying Squad policemen a young 22 year old pusher, also of Tunisian nationality, irregular and already expelled in December 2022. Collecting reports from some residents regarding the presence of individuals engaged in drug dealing activities inside the Lina Merlin gardens in Padua, the police caught the 22-year-old in possession of three doses of hashish and two doses of cocaine. At the time of the photo-reporting and the subsequent investigations, they also ascertained in his case that he had already been expelled from the Palermo air border and therefore that he had made illegal re-entry before the age of 5. In addition to being reported for possession of the narcotic, the young man was arrested for illegal re-entry. Judged immediately, at the outcome of which the measure of the residence ban in Veneto was also applied, he was expelled again and detained on the orders of the Police Commissioner of Padua at the Repatriation Center of Gradisca d’Isonzo.
