Little guests visiting the Catania provincial carabinieri command in Piazza Verga. The children of the nursery school were welcomed by the soldiers of the Carabinieri on duty at the Piazza Verga station, the 6th section “scientific investigations section”, the anti-sabotage bomb squad of the investigative unit and two self-assembled crews and a couple of motorcyclists of the mobile radio unit of Catania.
The children, accompanied by their parents, had the opportunity to meet the bomb squad personnel who showed them the equipment provided. In particular, through a practical demonstration with the use of the remote-controlled robot, used in cases of reclamation, the Eod experts simulated, under the amazed eyes of all the guests, an intervention aimed at grabbing a small plastic bottle.
Subsequently, the carabinieri from the scientific investigations section met the children, taking them on a tour of their multi-equipped vehicle used during the inspections. To cheer up the very young guests, there were the soldiers of the mobile radio unit crews, who intervened on board the vehicles provided, who showed the instruments on board the “emergency response” vehicles, such as those of the latest “gazelle” to arrive , a hybrid Alfa Romeo Tonale in mobile radio configuration, and two latest generation Ducati Multistrada motorcycles.
Obviously there was no shortage of sirens that some little ones wanted to sound. There was a festive air for the children who had the opportunity to spend an intense and exciting morning, playing and knowing that they, the carabinieri, are there and give them and all the citizens a lot of security. Many photos were taken of cars and motorbikes and with the “gentlemen in uniform” and many hands raised to ask permission to activate the sirens and flashing lights of the vehicles deployed.
The meeting, promoted on the initiative of the Army and the “Narciso” children’s institute, is symptomatic of the need to “magnetize” and gather the interest of all young people, even the youngest, who, taking advantage of an informal contact, they can deepen and appreciate the meaning of the institutional mission carried out daily by the Carabinieri.
