Thirty-five days after the start of the training camp, Cosenza begins to clear its head again to get back on track. The separation of Roberto Gemmi signals another breaking point with the past. The rossoblù are starting to chart a new course.
President Eugenio Guarascio is currently busy deciding on the new sporting director to rely on to try to achieve the best possible placing in the next cadet championship.
The top Silan manager continues to dream of snatching a place in the playoffs. An ambition already cultivated in the last two years. In the first case, however, a difficult salvation came, obtained only after the double playout with Brescia.
In the second case, Cosenza’s parable was much less dramatic and for some phases there was even belief in the possibility of achieving that objective which was never openly declared by the Via degli Stadi club.
The signatures on both projects were placed by Gemmi, whose future will now be in Serie A, at Empoli.
Not everything has gone smoothly in these twenty-four months. In both seasons the sporting director changed the technical leadership and in the first year he was also forced to make corrections, in January, to overcome an extremely negative ranking condition (last place). Evaluations that influenced the choice of Guarascio, who, as on other occasions, left the “dirty work” to pass as time passed. Obviously without forgetting that the relationship between the two has been fraying, especially in recent months, with some episodes that have made the fractures wider, practically impossible to heal.
The top Silan manager is concretely considering relying on two figures to be included on different levels. No longer, therefore, as happened with Gemmi and his collaborator Perna (the farewell also concerns the latter), a horizontal but vertical division, with a better distribution of roles and intermediate supervision. Some names have already filtered out.
Guarascio has registered the interest of various sporting directors and will refine his choice in the coming days.
Among the applications that reached the table of the top Silan manager was also that of the head of the youth sector of Torino Ruggero Ludergnani, born in 1986, in the Granata from 2021 after a long journey at Spal, which began as an observer and then continued with the role also assumed in Urbano Cairo’s company.
The option represented by Leandro Rinaudo, born in 1983, fresh from a two-year stint at Palermo, remains. The former defender from Palermo wants to get back into the game after ending his relationship with the Sicilian club.
For Cosenza there remains the need to decide quickly to resolve the other immediate issues.
