The second day of the Champions Cup staged at the PalaIndoor in Padua has also come to an end. Today the men’s and women’s all-around events are scheduled – a fundamental viaticum to qualify for the Overall 2024 – together with the competition reserved for the Junior 2 category. 81 gymnasts from all over Italy competed on the large men’s apparatus but only one lifted the Champions Cup: Stefano Patron, with a total of 81,250 points. The Spes Mestre talent preceded Niccolò Vannucchi, who finished in second place with a total of 80,900. The bronze, however, went to Fabrizio Valle, of Roma 70 Ginnastica, with 79.500. At the foot of the Venetian podium we find Lorenzo Galli (Air Force) at an altitude of 78,950.

On the women’s front however, Rebecca Aiello (Riccione Gymnastics) got the better of the over 177 gymnasts who signed up for the competition – organized by the local Corpo Libero Gymnastics Team of the president Tommaso Toffanin – with the total, on the four apparatus, of 52,850. Letizia Saronni (Centro Sport Bollate) finished a few tenths behind, silver with 52,200. Third place for Irene Lanza (Futuregym 2000) with a score of 52.150.

At the same time as the senior competition, the challenge between the young Junior 2 men’s artistic competition was also held. Pietro Mazzola, from Ginnastica Sampietrina, jumped to the top of the rankings with an unmatched 77.750 on the Olympic lap. Nothing could be done by the host, Ivan Rigon (Corpo Libero Gymnastics Team) who concluded his all around in second position with 74.300 points, five hundredths of a second from Riccardo Ruggeri (Victoria Fermo), bronze with 74.250.

The awards ceremony was attended by federal councilor Franco Mantero, representing the federal president Gherardo Tecchi, the section team manager Andrea Facci, the president of the Veneto FGI Regional Committee Dario Martello and the number one of the organizing company Tommaso Toffanin.

The Champions Cup program will continue tomorrow with the specialty finals for both sections.
