Cyclist hit by a car. Fiab Pisa puts the spotlight on the problem

Yesterday a motorist hit a cyclist on via di Ulisse Dini, the road that connects San Giuliano to Pisa.
The exact dynamics of the accident are not yet known, but the outcome is: the cyclist was rushed to hospital under code red, and the prognosis is reserved. As usual, the consequences of what is too often considered a “trivial accident” are extremely serious for the most vulnerable users.

This episode brings the problem of safety on the road back to the fore, and in particular highlights the urgency of creating safe routes that allow those traveling by bike (or even on foot) to be able to move around safely.

In this regard, we would like to remind you that, incredibly, there is still no protected cycle connection between Pisa and San Giuliano; this lack not only increases the dangers for those who cycle, but represents a serious obstacle to the use of the bike for daily travel.
Let us remember that Pisa and San Giuliano are just a few kilometers apart, and the presence of a quality cycling infrastructure would make the bicycle (perhaps even electric) the most competitive means of transport between the two municipalities.

We hope that both candidates for the office of mayor of San Giuliano will put the creation of a track that finally connects San Giuliano and Pisa at the top of their agenda.
