The European Athletics Championships have kicked off in Rome. Andria protagonist with Pasquale Selvarolo (middle distance runner – Fiamme Azzurre) and Francesco Fortunato (scorer – Fiamme Gialle). The two athletes will compete today 8th and tomorrow 9th June in their specialties. The message of encouragement from Mayor Giovanna Bruno.

«Perhaps for the first time in the history of Andria athletics, two of our talented young people represent the city of Federico in Rome, at the European championships.
Francesco Fortunato has accustomed us to his face and his fantastic goals, from race to race, from success to success. Pasquale Selvarolo is also emerging more and more, another deserving athlete who is making his place in the world of sport. These are kids who have worked hard over time, defying the logistical shortcomings and fatigue of physical activity at these levels.

But passion, willpower, great determination have brought them this far.
We are proud! Never before have they felt the affectionate closeness and strong support of their community, of all of us, like at this moment. They are an all-Andria pride that we must encourage to the maximum, admiring their path and the successes they are achieving, race after race. Even more beautiful and touching is their strong attachment to our city. They are an integral, active part of it and contribute to raising its name. We are grateful to them.
For anyone in Rome, it would be nice to follow them live, or from the comfort of home.
May they receive the emotional and grateful embrace of the entire city of Andria which with one voice shouts “Come on guys!”».
