BikeMi, hours extended until 2 am

In Milan, the hours in which it will be possible to use the sharing bicycle service, BikeMi, are being extended. From June 10th the new timetable will come into effect, every day from 6 am to 2 am. The decision to definitively extend the usability of the service from midnight to 2am “meets the needs of citizens who choose BikeMi every day for their urban travel”, as explained in a note by IGP, the the company that manages the service. The initiative is part of the bike sharing development plan which has among its objectives that of encouraging people to use bicycles as an alternative means of transport “for a sustainable and environmentally friendly future”. There will be a further novelty, from September 2800 new muscle pedal bikes will begin to be progressively introduced for an increasingly widespread service. To standardize the entire bike fleet, the same model as the current bikes will be added to the fleet, which will be equipped with a new accessory, a mobile phone holder. “We were committed to extending the BikeMi service and now the objective has been achieved – explains the Municipality’s Mobility Councilor Arianna Censi -. We have collected the requests that came from various quarters, both from the municipal council and from the many young people who wrote to us, and we started a discussion with the interested parties to identify ways to extend the return time for shared bicycles until 2 am”.
