Municipal elections are here, at 3pm today the polls are also open in Irpinia for the vote, also for the European elections. In Avellino there are 72 sections in the city where the preference will be expressed. There are two party lines: the UDC – Union of the Center with Gennaro Romei and the Brothers of Italy with Modestino Iandoli.
In the field is Laura Nargi, Festa’s deputy for a five-year term, attempting to climb to the highest seat in Piazza del Popolo with the ambition of becoming the first mayor of the city of Avellino. You are running with three lists, Really, We are Avellino, W freedom with the confirmation of outgoing councilors and councillors.
Competing outside the coalitions, with the “Progetto Avellino Futura” list, is the lawyer Vittorio Boccieri who has placed the criteria of transparency and the language of spontaneity among the priorities of the program.
The surgeon Aldo D’Andrea with Unità Popolare per Avellino competes with a team made up of Dema, a left-wing formation created by Luigi De Magistris, Rifondazione Comunista and other left-wing experiences.
Also on the field is the Rai journalist, Rino Genovese at the helm of the “Civic Pact” with five supporting lists, Civic Pact for Avellino, Forza Avellino, Citizens in Movement, Moderates and Reformists, La Rondine.
Finally, four lists between the Pd, 5 Star Movement, Per Avellino with Gengaro and Avellino Participatory Project for Antonio Gengaro.
In Avellino city and in 41 other municipalities, citizens go to the polls to elect the mayor and the city council. In total, 408,179 voters are distributed across the 508 provincial sections. All Italian citizens registered on the electoral lists who have reached the age of 18 will be able to vote, as well as citizens of other European Union countries residing in Italy who have submitted the application to vote for the members of the European Parliament belonging to Italy.
In 42 municipalities in the province of Avellino, out of a total of 118, municipal representations are renewed, including two centers with over 15,000 inhabitants: Avellino and Montoro. The Irpinia voters involved are 160,047, of which 45,815 in the capital.
The municipalities interested in the elections are: Altavilla Irpina, Avellino, Bisaccia, Bonito, Candida, Carife, Cassano Irpino, Castelbaronia, Castelvetere sul Calore, Cesinali, Chiusano di San Domenico, Contrada, Domicella, Grottolella, Melito Irpino, Mercogliano, Mirabella Eclano, Montecalvo Irpino, Montefusco, Montella, Montoro, Morra De Sanctis, Moschiano, Parolise, Paternopoli, Salza Irpina, San Michele di Serino, San Nicola Baronia, San Sossio Baronia, Sant’Andrea di Conza, Santa Lucia di Serino, Santa Paolina, Savignano Irpino, Taurano, Taurasi, Torrioni, Trevico, Tufo, Vallesaccarda, Venticano, Villanova del Battista, and Zungoli.
The legislative decree of 29 January 2024, n. 7 has set the date for the European elections and the ordinary round of administrative elections for today and tomorrow.
– voting operations will take place on Saturday 8 June from 3.00 pm to 11.00 pm and on Sunday 9 June from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm;
– the counting operations for the election of the members of the European Parliament due to Italy will begin on Sunday 9 June as soon as the voter matching operations for each electoral consultation have been concluded, while the counting for the municipal elections will begin on Monday 10 June at 2 pm, 00;
– for the purposes of calculating procedural deadlines, Sunday is considered the voting day
To vote you must show up at the polling station with your voter card and identification document. Anyone who has lost, damaged, stolen it or has run out of space available can go, without an appointment, to one of the registry offices or electoral offices of their municipality of residence. Of course, you must also bring a valid identity document with you. And the request can also be made through a cohabiting family member with a proxy on plain paper, one of their documents and an original document from the delegating person.
For a regular vote – As regards the European elections, it is possible to vote for only one list, using only the copying pencil provided. Split voting is not permitted. The voter can vote by drawing an X on the symbol of the chosen list even without indicating any candidate. While the names of the candidates who are eventually chosen can be indicated on the lines printed to the right of the symbol. As? Writing the surname or the name and surname. Up to a maximum of three preferences can be expressed for candidates belonging to the same list but these must concern candidates of different sexes. For the first time and only for the European elections, non-resident students will be able to vote for the lists and candidates of their territorial constituency of origin without having to return to their municipality of residence. According to the numbers released by the Interior Ministry, 23,734 students have requested to use this new voting method.
