Elections. Poker of candidates in Cesena. Casali (right) and Giangrandi (centre) challenge mayor Lattuca (centre-left). Sensini outsider

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June we will vote in Cesena (just under 100 thousand inhabitants) to elect the mayor and the municipal council (of 32 members) and for the European elections. The polls will be open on Saturday 8 June from 3pm to 11pm and Sunday 9 June from 7am to 11pm. The municipal counting is scheduled for 2pm the following day.

We remind you that for the European Parliament elections we vote with the proportional system but with a threshold of 4%. While for the administrative elections in the municipalities there is a double system. In municipalities like Cesena with more than 15 thousand inhabitants, voting takes place with the double-round majority system: if in the first round none of the candidates obtains 50% plus one of the valid votes, a run-off takes place 14 days later, between the two best-placed candidates. in the first round. The possible run-off round for the direct election of the mayor of the Municipality of Forlì will take place on Sunday 23 June from 7.00 to 23.00 and on Monday 24 June from 7.00 to 15.00.

HOW TO VOTE

European elections. Each voter can vote for only one list by placing a mark on the mark of the chosen list or in the rectangle containing this mark. Each voter can express up to a maximum of three preference votes for candidates on a list. In the case of multiple preferences expressed, these must concern candidates of different sex, under penalty of cancellation of the second and third preferences. The preferential vote can be expressed for candidates included in the voted list. The preference vote is expressed by writing the name and surname or only the surname of the preferred candidates included in the same list.

Administrative elections. There are three voting possibilities. 1) you can only draw a mark on the symbol of a list, thus assigning your preference to the marked list and to the mayoral candidate supported by the latter 2) you can draw a mark on the symbol of a list, simultaneously drawing a mark on the name of a mayoral candidate not connected to the voted list: by doing so you obtain the so-called ‘disjoint vote’ 3) you can draw a mark only on the name of the mayoral candidate, thus voting only for the mayoral candidate and not for the list or lists linked to the latter. Each voter can express one or two preference votes for municipal councillors, for no more than two candidates included in the list he voted for. If two preferences are expressed, they must concern candidates of different sexes from the same list, under penalty of cancellation of the second preference. The candidate who obtains the absolute majority of valid votes (at least 50% plus one) is elected mayor in the first round. If no candidate reaches this threshold, voting will return on 23 and 24 June to choose between the two candidates who obtained the highest number of votes in the first round (runoff). In the second round, the candidate who obtains the highest number of votes is elected mayor.
