“In His Image” stops in Sicily

The episode of 8 June, at 4.00 pm on Rai 1, inaugurates the Saturday summer cycle of “A Sua Immagine”. Rai Cultura’s religious in-depth program stops in Sicily. It is in fact on the slopes of the Iblei Mountains, between Scicli and Modica, that Lorena Bianchetti will begin her journey to discover Italy and its religious, cultural, artistic, natural and popular roots. Scicli and Modica have been part of the world heritage site protected by UNESCO for some years now, thanks to their eighteenth-century baroque. Discovering that corner of Sicily you will come across heartfelt and enthralling festivals of popular faith, such as that of Uomo Vivo which takes place in Scicli, capable of inspiring even refined singer-songwriters such as Vinicio Capossela; but also in the places that host the fiction most loved by Italians, “Inspector Montalbano”, which sees the most famous scenes taking place in these parts. And again, the beauty of the sea and the canyons dug into the earth, the delight of chocolate which is tradition and love for the sweets of Modica, and other exquisitely crafted works of art. The new summer cycle of “The reasons for hope” conducted by Don Marco Pozza, for the commentary on the Gospel of Ordinary Time, will land in Paraguay in the heart of South America, on the borders with Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia. An unprecedented journey to discover one of the most interesting experiences of evangelization, the Reductions, immortalized in the film “Mission”: 30 small towns, seven of which in Paraguay, which reached almost 150 thousand inhabitants and generated, in the 17th century, the largest and brilliant experiment in development cooperation never attempted. The first episode will be set in the capital Asunción, surrounded by the Paraguay river from where the missionaries arrived, and will unfold between places of politics, the Palacio de los López, of culture, the Museo del Barro, of spirituality, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption .
