Last championship culminated with access to the playoffs then lost against Vado 0-1. For the 2024-25 season, Città di Varese is now thinking of a further step, that is to make a splash by landing in the Lega Pro. And it does so starting from a new technical management, that of the former Bra Roberto Floris and from a new sports director, Antonio Montanaro. After the arrival announced by the club, the two former Bra exponents officially introduced themselves. Floris begins with an acknowledgment to the management for the trust that has been placed in him and then immediately intones the battle song: “I am an ambitious coach – he says – coming here was a life choice and I am ready to give satisfaction to the club and to the our fans.”
Montanaro also has “warlike” intentions: “I thank the club that strongly wanted me – he states – I am very happy to be here and aware of what was done last year, we have the task of improving and we are already working on it”. The president of the CDV Paolo Girardi wished them well in their work while the discussion of the manager Antonio Rosati started from the championship just behind him: “Davide Raineri and Corrado Cotta (ex sporting director and ex coach respectively, ed.) – he says – they did an excellent job and I want to reiterate it, but something was missing that I instead found in Montanaro and Floris.” His son Giovanni, who also recently joined the management staff, comments by stating that “despite the changes” the intent is to “give continuity to the project”.
Rosati jr says he is certain that “the right profiles” have been identified. In short, Città di Varese wants to give its fans that landing in the Lega Pro which it should have played in the 2015-16 season but did not do so due to a corporate bankruptcy for which it had to start again from the Eccellenza and then go up to the D series. Today you it is a City of Varese which, as a new path for red and white football, aims to sit in the third step of the national football hierarchy. In the meantime, Andrea Mal winter, a midfielder born in 2002, has been added to the confirmation list and said he was very satisfied because, he says, “the red and white shirt is tattooed on my skin”.
