Enzo Amich (Brothers of Italy), Giovanni Barosini (Action), Enrica Cattaneo (United States of Europe), Cherima Fteita (Forza Italia) and Sean Sacco (5 Star Movement). These are the five Alessandria candidates for the European elections today, Saturday 8 June, and tomorrow, Sunday 9. No one is at the top of the list in the North-West constituency, which includes Piedmont, Liguria and Valle d’Aosta. Everyone will therefore have a task that is not too easy.

If the race for Brussels does not appear easy, On Monday 10 June, at least 128 of the 130 mayors who are going to vote in the Municipalities will certainly be able to toast. In 49 towns there is only one candidate: if a quorum is reached, the mayor is already announced. Final rush in the three central cities. Only in Casale Monferrato and Tortona is there a possibility of a run-off, in the city of Ovada and in the 127 towns in the area the election will take place in the first round. Voting today from 3pm to 11pm, tomorrow polling stations open from 7am to 11pm.

In Casale, the second city in the province in terms of inhabitants, there are three candidates: Emanuele Capra, outgoing vice mayor, is the point of reference for the centre-right coalition and wants to give continuity to what Federico Riboldi has done in the last five years. The fiercest challenger is Riccardo Calvo, a former principal who is well known and respected in the city, who runs for the Democratic Party and the centre-left. Third wheel Manuela Guaschino, from Libertà, who presented the list on the last available day and is the classic outsider.

In Tortona, the outgoing Federico Chiodi (centre-right) is aiming for an encore, but will have to watch out for Gianfranco Agosti (centre-left), Gian Francesco Galanzino (Vota Derthona), Alberto Balossino (Progetto Tortona) and Stefanella Ravazzi (Popular Tortona).

In Ovada, Gianfranco Comaschi (Together for Ovada) tries to give continuity to the centre-left administration that has governed since the post-war period. His challengers are Angelo Priolo (Prima Ovada) who has the imprimatur of Fratelli d’Italia, and Ivana Nervi (Ovada nel cuore), supported by Lega and Forza Italia.
