The images tell, even before any words. And the lack of reaction goes hand in hand. Because we are used to it, because we are no longer surprised by the incivility that surrounds us.
This time it is the Sorda neighborhood of Modica that suffers the damage of an uncivilized and rude attitude, in particular the creperie Angolo16, which saw the plants in the Sacred Heart square vandalised, where tables and chairs allow the many customers to sit and dine.
“With the guys on my team we take care of the small square next to the creperie as if it were ours – the owner tells us. With the good weather we decided to renew the plants, we bought new ones to make the little square even more welcoming. It’s a shame that that same evening they were literally vandalized by a group of kids, regardless not only of their commitment but above all of their respect for the environment that hosts them.”
The business owners speak
Disappointment and disaffection evident for an episode that is just the umpteenth. It is enough to take two steps further and talk to the commercial activities in the area to realize how constant similar attitudes are to be observed and, unfortunately, cleaned up.
“It happened yesterday but it happens all the time – continues the owner of Angolo 16 – it happens every time they leave the tables in pitiful conditions, full of waste. Yet half a meter away there are all the recycling bins. I remain saddened by the rudeness and indifference, I, my team, the colleagues from nearby businesses.
I reported the incident through social media, it was a personal but also collective outburst, and the only positive note was seeing the solidarity of the many who follow us. What is certain is that we will continue to work and behave as we have always done, consistent with the values, despite the tiredness of a systemic problem that has no solutions that are not common”
