In recent days the archbishop of Benevento Felice Accrocca and Msgr. Francesco Beneduce, auxiliary bishop of Naples, met the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, to whom they explained the path undertaken in recent years by the Bishops of the Metropolia of Benevento and by others from different regions of Italy, in support of the internal areas of Village. During the frank and serene conversation – we read on the website of the diocese of Benevento – “the prelates had the opportunity to inform the Head of State of how the process of raising awareness on this very important issue is taking place in a dual direction: in the social -political-administrative, with the celebration of a Forum, usually in the month of May, which in recent years has also seen young high school students as protagonists; in the pastoral field, with the annual meeting – usually during the summer – of bishops coming from territories interested in the issue (representing, we can say, almost all the Italian regions), with the aim of identifying suitable lines for a specific pastoral care for the internal areas.
The President of the Republic showed appreciation and confirmed the importance of this path and assured that he will follow its developments with interest. A step forward, in the hope that all those involved are available and capable of experimenting with new practices and implementing convergent and effective actions for the good of the communities.
Together with the two prelates, Mattarella received a representation of lay faithful from the Christian Life Community of the North area of Naples.
