Six plea agreements were reached in the trial resulting from the Hybris investigation which busted a cocaine trafficking ring which had its “epicentre” in the “Bronx” district of Licata and was spread across the provinces of Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Palermo.

The judge for the preliminary hearing of the Agrigento court, Giuseppa Zampino, ratified the agreement between the prosecutor’s office and the defense and applied sentences ranging from 5 months to 5 years of imprisonment.

This is an offshoot of the investigation after the proceedings, based on an ordinance of the Palermo gup, was divided into different sections.

The highest sentence – 5 years of imprisonment – was applied to Marco Cavaleri; one year each to Giuseppe Sanfilippo and Angelo La Cognata; 2 years and 8 months to Michele Palma; 5 months and 10 days to Marco Marino and 6 months to Giacomo Luca Marino.

Furthermore, the precautionary measure requiring signatures was revoked against the latter, defended by the lawyer Gaspare Lombardo (also in the panel were the lawyers Giuseppe Vinciguerra and Debora Speciale).

The police operation, which began on February 21 last year, has already led to others five convictions up to 20 years in prison for the defendants accused of criminal conspiracy, and the same number of indictments.
