BOLOGNA – Trapani fails in the first promotion match-ball. Shark defeated in Bologna 64-59 and so promotion to Serie A1 still remains suspended. The series is now at 2-1 for coach Diana’s men, who remain in Bologna to prepare for game 4.

The black start of Trapani

The start of the race is tragic for Trapani. The bedlam at Paladozza mentally blocked coach Diana’s men who ended the first half down by 14 points: 25-11. The worst news, however, is Stefano Gentile’s right ankle injury. Maddaloni’s boy will try to return to the field in the second quarter but in the end he will have to raise the white flag.

The second half opens with a 5-0 for the guests thanks to Rei Pullazi, who tries to shake up his team. Gentile’s absence leads to greater use of Matteo Imbrò, which scores the triple of hope. At the end of the quarter there was also a flash from JD Notae and so Trapani breathed going into the long interval eight points behind: 34-26.

Shark cling to the match

Trapani stronger than the difficulties in the third quarter. Diana sends Notae to the bench and Marini keeps the Sharks afloat. At the end of the half, a triple from Alibegovic from a sidereal distance rekindles hope: 48-43 at the dawn of the last quarter.

The battle of the last quarter

In the last ten minutes Trapani tries its best but a bomb from Panni five minutes from the end brings them back to -8, allowing Bologna to breathe, who in the meantime suffer from Horton’s physicality under the basket. Notae and Imbrò miss the triple of possible -2 but two minutes and 33 seconds from the siren Trapani is still there.

Alibegovic’s triple was canceled out by Panni’s long-range shot. Imbrò lights up and puts in the bomb for 2 with 50 seconds left but Notae’s errors and the excessive frenzy to recover play a bad joke on Trapani who closes five down and makes PalaDozza celebrate.
