Separate and preferences here are the rules of the game

Polls open throughout Polesine, tomorrow starting at 3pm, for the European elections. You can vote until 11pm, then again on Sunday from 7am to 11pm.

In 32 Municipalities, with the capital leading the way, as well as for the European Parliament (brown color card) voters will also be able to vote to choose the new mayor and the new city councils (light blue card). Voting takes place at the same times. The counting of votes in the European elections, however, will begin tomorrow evening, when the polls close and therefore starting from 11pm; everything postponed to Monday for mayors and councils: the counting will start from 2pm.

Ballot But it’s not over. Rovigo (but also the smaller municipalities, in the event of sensational cases of perfect parity) could return to the polls in two weekends: the run-off between the two most voted candidates is set for Sunday 23rd (from 7am to 11pm) and Monday 24th (from 7am to 3pm).

Europe For the European elections, you vote by drawing a single sign on the chosen symbol: there is no “split vote”. It is possible to indicate up to three preferences, as long as one is of a different gender than the others. There are three candidates from Polesine (the complete lists can be found on page 14, ed): these are the mayor of Porto Viro Valeria Mantovan (Fdi), the mayor of Porto Tolle Roberto Pizzoli (Lega) and the Rodinese Arianna Corroppoli (Forza Italia).

Split vote In the municipal elections, split voting is only possible in the city of Rovigo. The voter, in this case, can vote for a mayoral candidate and a list even if not connected to the chosen mayor. Within the chosen list, and only within this, it is then possible to indicate up to two preferences, but also in this case respecting the gender alternation, under penalty of cancellation of the second preference.

Election If none of the six mayoral candidates exceed 50% of the votes validly cast, the people of Rovigo will be called to vote again, on Sunday 23rd and Monday 24th. Single round (barring ties), and therefore mayor “crowned” already on Monday, in all the other 31 Municipalities of the province called to vote: to win, it will be enough to get one vote more than the other candidates, even without reaching the 50% threshold. Attention: in these Municipalities no separate voting.

Double preference It will be possible to express two preferences, as long as they are of different kinds, only in Occhiobello and Lendinara. Single preference in all the other 29 Municipalities voting.

Quorum In the six municipalities with only one candidate (Ceneselli, Frassinelle, Loreo, Gaiba, Pincara and San Bellino) the election is valid only with a 40% turnout and a majority of valid ballots in the ballot box.
