After Gwathmey’s stay, the roster for the 24/25 GEAS season is enriched with another confirmation, no less important than the one announced yesterday: the #12 tank top will still be worn by Valeria Trucco. A relationship now in its fourth consecutive year, a symptom of the desire of both parties to grow together, aiming for increasingly ambitious objectives. Valeria will make her flexibility and atypical characteristics difficult to find in her equal roles, even more so if you consider that we are talking about a class of ’99.
Now the pivot of the Rossoneri team, she too can be considered a veteran in the ranks of GEAS, a role that will bring her even more to the praetorian of coach Zanotti, who she now knows well.
Born in Turin in 1999, coming from a family that breathes basketball, Valeria took her first steps in the world of sport in nearby Moncalieri. From there he took off early towards a wanderer adolescence: two years in Battipaglia from 2015 to 2017, return to Turin for another two years, Moncalieri again.
The penultimate stage sees her in Ragusa, a prestigious stage that will lead her to have many eyes on her. From the following season, 2021/2022 to be precise, Valeria settles in Sesto San Giovanni, finding a staff that will help her grow and an environment that adopts her as if she were now at home. 3 years that lead her to definitive maturation, with solid figures and important minutes.
The 17 recorded in the away game against Bologna remain in the eyes, in almost 40 minutes spent on the parquet. Grown exponentially in rebound numbers (23 collected in Campobasso in the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup), we are certain that the 24/25 season will also be fundamental for the Piedmontese girl in her personal and GEAS growth.
Coach Cinzia Zanotti thus greeted Valeria’s confirmation: “Record of years in the same team for Vale. We expect a lot from her, I know her qualities well and we will work with all the staff to bring them out.”
