CIVITAVECCHIA – After 12 years, an affair which had aroused great interest in the city and which began on 20 February 2012 when the Chalet del Tribunal kiosk bar was seized for alleged violations of building laws is finally coming to an end.
The criminal proceedings that followed involved, in addition to the owner of the bar, Alessandro Di Raimondo, also the designer and director of works Tiziano Barlafante, who was convicted at the hearing on 15 April 2013, while Di Raimondo was acquitted because the fact did not constitute a crime , and the demolition of the kiosk was ordered.
Both Di Raimondo and Barlafante, both assisted by the lawyer Giovanni Spanu, had therefore decided to appeal, with the related trial which was celebrated on May 31st. The case ended with the acquittal of both defendants because the fact does not exist, in full acceptance of the defense requests, which aimed at a broader acquittal formula for Di Raimondo, and the same formula for the surveyor Barlafante. The Court also ordered the revocation of the demolition order. The General Prosecutor’s Office had requested a declaration of statute of limitations for the crime.
