Seven million euros for the restyling

«Nnew massive intervention by the Melucci Administration as part of the redevelopment and recovery plan for important city areas financed by Development and Cohesion Fund 2014-2020″.

Following the approval of the definitive project of the works to be carried out, the municipal council gave green light for the restyling of the “Aragonese Walls” together with the corresponding stretch of the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II seafront.

«This is – they explain from Palazzo di Città – yet another measure which, as outlined by the broader urban, social, economic and environmental regeneration program developed by “Taranto Ecosystem”, point to both redesign the image of buildings and characteristic places of the city, both a protect the priceless historical-cultural heritage of the capital. All in continuity with the old city recovery program already prepared a few years ago by the municipal administration and named “Isola Madre Intervention Plan”. The works that will concern one of the most iconic areas of the city center come alongside those already planned for the maintenance, renovation and enhancement of public heritage for the benefit of a city that has become an increasingly popular destination for visitors and tourists coming not only from other areas of Italy, but also from abroad”.

The general economic expenditure framework of the final project of the intervention amounts to 7 million euros, as illustrated during the council meeting by the councilor for urban planning, Edmondo Ruggiero.

Mayor Rinaldo Melucci expresses satisfaction for the new measure adopted: «With this other great work we demonstrate our commitment to preserving and renewing public heritage, to creating new opportunities for development and tourist attraction, making Taranto increasingly modern, innovative and welcoming».

«The projects we are carrying out and the results we are achieving in every field are the result of significant team work carried out as part of the urban regeneration process, which remains a priority for this Administration. We must continue to look ahead and be ready, especially in view of the international events that the city will host.”
