Social policy funds, the process of agreements with social welfare structures is speeded up

“The sums of which the Municipality of Catanzaro, in its capacity as lead body of the Social Territorial Area, is the beneficiary with reference to the national and regional Funds for social policies amount to approximately 2 million 800 thousand euros. The Conference of Mayors, in the last meeting, approved the programming of these resources for the year 2024, establishing the distribution percentages for the different macro-areas families and minors, disabled people, disadvantaged adults and elderly people. It is an important deliberative act that follows the new guidelines received from the Calabria Region at the beginning of the year, with which the amount of fees for residential and semi-residential structures, the amount of territorial services and the methods of determining the user participation.
The municipal administration, with a measure passed by the council, has therefore given the green light to the agreement scheme for the system of social welfare structures for the current year, with a commitment aimed at shortening the time compared to the past and to plan, in advance, the consequent procedures that regulate this sector. In fact, the social policy sector will now have to, as determined by the council itself, draw up the definitive list of the socio-welfare structures falling within the social territorial area of Catanzaro, authorized and accredited, to which users can refer for the various offered services.
At the same time, the procedures must be initiated for the agreement with the managing bodies of the social-welfare structures and, finally, for the approval of the public notice aimed at taking care of users, residing in the various Municipalities falling within the Area. It is a complex job, which started from afar and is carried forward amidst many difficulties and heavy administrative and financial burdens. On this front we need to start serious reflection, to enable individual municipalities to be able to plan activities with the structures of the third sector, which constitute the fundamental operational support for the territory”.
